Drifting Clouds, Far Passing

Based on the painting "Drifting Clouds" by Anne Packard
http://www.blazing.com/Packard/ap_drifting_clouds_lim.html

Brisk and light move those fine winged feet

tracing his wandering steps far away from here

casting long shadows for her last saddened gaze

that speaks in whispers of how she wants him near

an endless expanse of heated longing outreaches

without rising hills or castles to block the horizon

of random things alive that we find upon the sand

while these dreams are given birds souls to fly on

collected as many sweet kisses as pale seashells

fresh pink inside bloomed both ridged and wet

as lips parted the shells to reveal the moist pearls

and a want for more of them her morning’s regret

still winter waters where once there was a crashing

boisterous waves that the restless old Poseidon sent

to take some unknown peace from the silent rocks

making even the darkest of man’s mad souls repent

nay, it was not to last forever with those grey clouds

drifting as they did with the full rush of angered winds

beneath them we gathered ourselves a love once again

as the Gods return what the jealous demons rescind

moments in time and space, provisions of the moods and hues of heavenly wisps, swirling above -- your verbal rendering is made with bold strokes of passion and the delicate strokes of imagination -- much love and peace to you my dear friend -- Jon Michael

Exquisite verses once again. The way in which you braid together words and images is something I long to be able to do so well. Blessings, J'nia

I wish I could look out at the real life painting outside my windows and be as inspired as you are, Michelle. Of course, I would need your ability with words to be able to convey it to others. Right now, a sudden snowstorm has come up so I cannot see the river. But that probably would not stop you from "painting" something with your words. Thank you for sharing this gift. Love and best wishes,

Regis

Michelle,

Who needs imagery when you paint the scene upon my eyes, in beautiful lines of longing? Well done!

"...nay it was not to last forever with those grey clouds drifting as they did..."

This line seems to capture well the poignant bitter sweet flavor of this poem, like an acceptance of what can never be or the longing for what one wishes but can never have. Michelle this is a tremendous outpouring of heart and soul, even without knowing what the picture is I can feel your passion in each line.

hugs

Was love lost or was it found?
How far drifting above the ground?
Soaring high
Floating by.
Did the demons know why
Or did the child cry?
I felt a tear drop close by.
