Inspired by a painting of the same name by Eva Makk, 16 x 20

we left things there to wander-

your favorite straw hat with the hyacinth blue ribbon,

that i wore for the bloom of your smile;

the wrap of purple and pink silks

dancing so close as they spun

into a magenta dip and golden sway;

my large straw basket

nestled close to the flowers

that i gathered before you came this morning,

nodding heads of blue and white,

sharing a beauty they eke out,

petal by petal-

no wonder it led us there-

down the path we longed to stroll,

this floral explosion as if heaven's gate,

scents to soothe and comfort our uncivilized sides-

green leafy rooftops enclose us,

our love to be made long and deep

to the magic of a birdsong,

your boat swaying by the river's edge,

waiting to carry our tired bodies home-

but blue ribbons twine souls when alone

Like a Surgeon operating
You cut right to the point
Then stich the reader back together.
Healing the feelings that were once had.
Superb!

An impressionist who elevates reality to the ethereal as she seemed to perceive the spiritual within all things. Her individual brushstrokes appear to me like flames in constant movement. This is a wonderful interpretation of her painting, Michelle...

our love to be made long and deep
to the magic of a birdsong,

The superb imagery that you use serves to emphasize the feelings awakened by these two verses... ...and the whole poem. Thank you for sharing this gift, Michelle. Love and blessings,

Regis

I love the dreamy summer time heat feeling of this one Michelle. It brings to mind cottages, rowboats on the lake, picnics and of course kisses that linger.
Very nicely done.
