Based on a painting of the same name by one of my artistic idols, Louis Icart. He inspires both my writing and my love of pin-up art, and I like to draw versions of his work in my own style. I have rated this PG 13.

My other inspiration was Richard Cederberg's recent romantic poem. It was so well done, it made me want to write one of my own.

Poem Artwork

looking out upon the greying streets

mechanical people in boxes with wheels

i remember how last night we caught

fireflies in old dirty mason jars

along the edge of the lake

later beside the snapping of the fire

your tickle flutter kisses landed

such gentle feathered wings upon my neck

and just behind my pale seashell ears

sitting on the seat chest against my back

what's need or miss but this want of your hands

large and wearing the black fur of your hair upon them

sliding themselves around my full hips and down

down to spread apart the crease of my white thighs

and wander restless on this journey we've denied

pressed between your legs my own feel so free

and the pressure of your hardness against me

yes, just below the dimple of my lower back

where soft heart-shaped curves round outwards

yes, and you pushing so strong between them

kiss me again, please--

pull the lengths of my dark hair from off my back

so that from shoulders to spine I am alive

from the wet hot heat of your searching mouth

the brush of your beard and moustache pricking my skin

furry and warm I feel your chest meet up to my back

and I fill your hands as you reach around in front of me

giving rise to the ache at my very tips, my lips, my opened self

climbing to those tips and peaks with a tender touch

pulling reality far away from us and the everyday

kiss me again,

as you seek my sweetness with greedy hands

dipping into me for this warm sugared honey shared

hoping for your urgent and persistent tasting

and pleasure given in this our delectable feast

and now--

now busy city streets

if only-

greener pastures

where secrets wear freedom

but nothing else

Now, that's painting... and such a passionate coupling and parting to redden my ears.

Again your interpretation, Michele, is singular. Your poetic invention is satisfying and sumptuous and in ways (to this reader) encapsulates a type of impressionism that reflects the light within the soul and senses.

Your use of hands is both metaphoric and palpable ...

"this want of your hands" 3rd strophe
"and I fill your hands as you reach around in front of me" 6th strophe
"as you seek my sweetness with greedy hands" 7th strophe ... yes indeed!

Hands here effectively paint a developing abandonment between lovers that slowly simmers before it boils. Beautifully expressed.

Blessings ...

This poem was like an open invitation to glimpse inside your heart, passionate and intense yet such a dreamy fond rememberence of what was and can never be. My heart felt the ache and the desire, my body felt the passion that such soft sensuality stirred up and my eyes delighted in the picture that seemed to get clearer and larger as your poem unfolded. They say we improve our work with practise but Michelle your practise is all over and this poem is the major leagues... perfect.

Love the pic and words explode from that window.

The remedies for judgement from others, ohhh sooo sweet. It is such a shame when secrets must be kept, or at the least, having to feel they must be kept. Hoping your green pastures open for you.

The content is passionate and sensuous, but the rhythm of your poem is steady and quite, an interesting contrast. I wouldn't have imagined this
poem from that painting... if I had to write one, it would be a completely different atmosphere! Multiple inspirations from the artwork.

Michelle, you have fashioned romance and passion like an art form -- hot, steamy and suggestive -- your creative pen has done this very well -- peace and love my friend -- Jon Michael
