Inspired by a painting of the same name by Tom Mielko, acrylic on canvas

http://www.tommielko.com/news/CASA.pdf

Awake and open up the day with white shutters

hot tea and breakfast out on the wooden docks

a nest of baby birds above chirping in the gutters

they that are nature’s best and beautiful alarm clocks

Reminded that the most valuable thing to be gone

is the simplicity found in such a glorious place

where orange sherbert colored skies kiss the lawn

gathered in where gardens were once displaced

Lessons to be learned here from the stoic and sublime

how fixtures solid balance upon thin sticks in ground

all languages spoken by animal and man keep time

to the constant ebb and flow of the river’s sound

Relaxation is the message that rings loud and clear

and travelers carry a piece of this calm when they go

for when the stranger walks in upon this pure atmosphere

they keep more than even they themselves shall ever know

A harbor sunrise captured not just the lover but the friend

when they held hands upon the dock that sunny morning

two vagabonds forever searching for their journey’s end

and so blessed to find it beneath a new day’s dawning

Absolutely striking in its simplicity yet rich, truly poetic language. As usual you honor the English tongue. And its message is so direct and esential, explaining why life's so worth living despite its hardships.
