Strategic Strategy

Poem Artwork

As I sit before the board for chess

Finely carved wizards, Goddesses and elves

Form the faces of the dark pieces set in front of me.

 

Pawns, rooks, castles, knights

Stood before the royal pair

The King with a one square move only

 

His beautiful queen stands by his side

Able to cross the board in one direction

On each move, she is able to traverse the kingdom.

 

The opposing army facing me on the other side

Light pieces determined to take the darker side

The Queen must protect the King.

 

Goddess Caissa, be with me as I guide the Dark Queen

To place the King of Light in check

Castling the Dark King to keep him safe.

 

My knights have taken the Queen of Light.

Leaving her mate, the King of Light

Vulnerable to the Dark Checkmate!

Being vuerable is not a mate nor does a lost queen have to stay lost. Ask Bobby Fischer, about chess nothing else - may be a parka though. Josh Waitzkin may be of some help too you know. But let's justput the queens to bed and see how the bishops are in the morning - opppsss :) :) :}

I don't care for chess, per se, but I love this poem! Very well done; I prefer the Light to the Dark myself.

Personally, I'd have like for the Light side to win, not the dark side. There's enough darkness in this world, for me.
