Poem Artwork

She lays curled in a fetal ball

Against the head of the bed

She will not answer the doorbell

As human contact she cannot take

She does not answer the phone

Except for a very few

She goes out to a new job

Opens her mouth to speak

And is shocked at what comes out

Not at all what she had intended to say

And so she retreats to safety

Locked inside her home

Curled in a fetal ball

Against the head of the bed

Don’t try to see her

She will not answer the door

Don’t try to talk to her

The phone she will not answer

Welcome to the world she exists in

The world of bipolar disorder

You penned this condition very well. I believe, medication and counseling are the key to alleviating the problem.
