Alarm Clock

Poem Artwork

You married someone else

Telling me you would not

And now you call and ask me

To call and wake you at a certain time

 

I am not an alarm clock

I have no buttons

I have no snooze

To wake you in five minutes

 

My face isn’t backlit with Indigo Blue

My nose hasn’t sprouted hands

To mark the passing minutes and hours

My face isn’t edged with numerals

 

I am not an alarm clock

I am not an answering service

I will not answer your phone calls

I will not call you back

 

I am not an alarm clock

Go to Wal-Mart and

Purchase a nice alarm clock

With buttons and a snooze
