oh, texas rose

artisty frozen in time,

timeless refinement and radiance

from the seed under the hot spell

of the underground,

moisture dripping down through pockets

like coffee granules and shredded pine,

sun roasted to bloom,

soft root giving way to

green branches reaching high,

hair-like bristles forming cautionary fuzz,

growing thick into the hardened

stems that prick around the small 

blossom that with the right

amount of attention

will swell and explode into full bloom,

from light pink to red velvet,

richly hypnotic to the senses.
 

under the blue sky she rises,

suspended with warmed palms,

she's cradled expertly,

like no other has before,

a welcomed surprise

that warms her soul

and fills each fiber with

crimson excitment as

her petals are

tenderly stroked into freedom,

melting crystals dripping into

white gold through fingertips,

with a deep breath and gentle

exhale

she makes her debut.

and wbile giving her a moment to breathe,

released from winter's fury, gently holding her,

cupping thorns respectfully,

all her magnificance is released,

unchained melody

 to inspire, to entice, to be enjoyed

in this garden we till as one.
