This is very true Pat, especially for those of us whose lives were dictated long ago. I am not afraid of 'what happens if I succeed' because all of my life I have lived and shown the world who I am and demanded to be treated as such. But our society is filled with hatred, bigotry, discrimination, homophobia, crime, abuse, and many more dastardly things that can keep a body mired down.
What now Mr. Bass? Well, Mrs. Bass says love thy neighbor as thyself, and make sure your foot is true so you don't slip off of the stone crossing the river of love. Thank you for sharing.

Hey! Quite frankly, my dear, I resemble this. You have moved into the area of psychosomatic feeling and dire feelings of inadequacy. Been there. Done that. Horrible. You got your teeth (fangs?) into this poem, Pat.
