Too long restrained
her long sleek body
adorned of polished teak
and glistening metal
creaks and groans
straining taunt against
lines tethering her freedom...
freedom to challenge
once more
the unyielding unforgiving power
and majesty of the sea...
freedom to unfurl in glory
her billowing sails
in the face of ever fickle winds.
While I, the conflicted
reluctant mate
gaze in mute wonder
at the aged blackend
poles of the wharf...
reveling in the safety and beauty
of the craggy barnacles
securely harbored thereon.
"Beauty in the eye of beholder".
Wonderful poem to demonstrate and appreciate the freedom
of having your own sailboat and be able to sample the real life,
on board adventure and power of the nature at the open sea.
Thank you, Pat, for changing my perception of beauty
in the barnacles,....they are definitely more than coarse
living structure, glued to the polished body of boat.
With warm regards Isabella.
as this gem of a scribe describes.....Peace and love be with you
