Swimming Back

Enough for now,
of peering into
murky depths of living.

I’m swimming back
to the safe shallows
where the still pure water
cradles my weary eyes
toward the healing sun…

unclouded by
darkness of heart
or shaded by restless
branches weighted and bent with cares of the day.

I’m swimming back
to the bright clarity
where dancing frogs, high-stepping yaks
and camel kazoos
shine on my face…

floating now…
my pockets stuffed with chuckles.

They've all said it before me, but your metaphor is perfect for the situation and the ending is very uplifting, warm, and friendly. I just hope that you keep dry through all this immersion. ;-)

There you go. Good to see that you are looking toward the sun, just take it stroke by stroke as you swim back.
