She beckoned,
'Our time is but a whisper
come, take my hand
leap with me unfettered
by guilt
to the lop-eared pages
of this our last chapter.'

He strained toward
the alluring out-stretched hand
that had touched him so tenderly,
sensing instead clammy flesh
of one cold and taloned.

'Let the wind carry our laughter,
the sea reflect our calm.
We'll dance on the crests
of firey new horizons
while evening stars blanket all fear.'
'Come, worship with me our King.'

He turned toward the gentle lilting voice
seeing dark hollow words
slither forth from the smiling lips
he had tasted and reveled in,
lips now cornered with bloody spittle...
blank colorless eyes reflecting no light.

She yet beckoned,
'Come my love...our time is but a whisper.'

I loved the wording of this piece. It is so well crafted that the reader could interpret it a number of different ways. In my opinion, it takes an artist to be able to accomplish this task. Pat yourself on the back for a job well done.

Wow, scary and vivid and tantalizing all at once. A bit fairytale. Simply excellent.

"blank colorless eyes reflecting no light.

She yet beckoned,
'Come my love...our time is but a whisper"

smiling lips, blood, blank colorless eyes ... a strange moment and a hollow whisper indeed ...

Quite chilling, but I was having a bit of trouble between "he" and "she." Macabre to the end.

This is a stunning peace in its juxtaposition of romantic love and reality. Sometimes to be love blinded is to reject the ugly obvious. And sometimes it is simply not enough. M.True

Okay. I am at a loss for words. Sounds like a bad nightmare.
