Fear

why do i hide it so,
when well full i know
it's there.

it comes to me with a thousand faces
each with a smile & a frown.
seeking to root out the traces
of any peace & serenity i've found.

there, deep in my heart,
deep in my Soul,
it stands apart.
there in the shades & the shadows
of my Whole.

Fear.
oh, why do i hold you so near?
why to me do you seem so dear,
that ever i draw you here?

for if i but let go,
if i would let my fears show,
maybe then i would know
why i hide it so.

could it be
that if i let my fears show,
then i must see
and i must know,
the fear that lies in me?

I've always seen fear as instinctive. It's a part of life, part of being an animal. A racoon doesn't know God, but it still feels fear :)

Well said Steve...Fear is a stranger to no one, but it has to be overcome, for it is a subtle little demon that once it takes hold is like a steel claw that won't let go.
