we always got by
but now they say
"it's gonna' kill you someday"
i said "no way"

oh brother
see me & booze
had 'nuthin ta' lose
thought we could choose
we did what we did
never hid
we were together
thru fair & stormy weather
we were a pair
all the pain we did share
we were always there
together
alcohol & me
see
alcohol & me
we never could see
i didn't know
we were enemies
it never did show
there was always the glow
always the flow
but alcohol & i
must say "good-bye"
otherwise
i'll die
gotta' break those old ties
alcohol & i
we be old friends
but not 'till i die
not 'till the ends
good by old friends

This made me smile...more than i can tell you. You don't know me...i don't know you...but i grew up with a father who was/is an active alcoholic. And even now, as a grown up...i still find myself begging him to get help for it. I see how it has destroyed him...emotionally, mentally, physically. The toll it has taken on him...and all of those who love him...can never be estimated. I am happy for you and wish you the best in your journey!

alocohol has man.
I am gonna have to sell my stock in the booze companies now...LOL! Won't be easy, but if I could do it, 14 odd years ago, you can too...take it one day, as they say at AA! Peace thru Sobriety, Ed & Rufuz
