i miss the amber potion.
the bitter bite of it's aroma
as the seal is broken
and a simple twist
unleashes it's promise.

the sharpness of it's touch
as my tongue savors it's warmth.
and as the amber potion
flows through my veins
it's true to it's word.

my fears, my doubts, my worries,
my guilt, my shame, my failures
washed away
in the warm flow
of the amber potion.

and then - oblivion.

only to wake again.
back to reality.
body aching, mind dull.
and there still
all my fears, my doubts, my worries,
my guilt, my shame, my failures.

there too,
is the amber potion
and it's promise.

oblivion.
