(this acutally happened in 2003. i was divorced, jobless, my mom was dieing, my dad too or so we thought. but i walked a lot.)
as i was out walking
late one summer day
walking and talking
just making my way
down by the shore
of Corpus Christi Bay
pondering what my Life had in store
trying to accept "come what may"
the sky was cloudless & blue
what can i say
i was wondering just what to do
when what did i spy
but a sign so true
there with my eye
a beautiful hue
a glow
green & yellow, pink & blue
one half of a rainbow
there in the sky
where it came from i don't know
but now i know why
and as i kept walking
just making my way
to GOD i was talking
that clear cloudless day
that half of the rainbow
began to fade away
and the other half of the rainbow began to glow
GOD spoke to my mind
to me HE did show
in a way so kind
HE let me know
there by the shore
in LIFE i would find
there is always more
than just what i see
what Life has in store
is just "To Be"
and to know for sure
HE is always walking with me
I'm a better person for having read such an inspiring and beautiful poem! Thank you, Steve!

I like the way you did this and experienced the same thing in 1998 when my cancer came back. Often I looked to rainbows and the sunset on my walks. Beautifully done.
Steve, this is a beautiful retelling of a visit from God's spirit. It is inspired and I'm so glad He spoke to your spirit in this way. Thanks for sharing. Keep writing! Eileen
This is one of your best, Steve. It is focused and clearly states what you have to say. I have had such visions, and to others, they may seem happenstance, but somehow, we feel the intensity of the moment and we know that they truly are a sign from God. There is never any mistaking that feeling.
Take care,
