unless just maybies
you knows its
ahead of time
that there in their mind
their gonna' find

and when they cry
if you sing a lullaby
take heed
and if you read
"humpty dumpty sat on a wall
humpty dumpty had a great fall"
that may be all
it takes
to makes
in their mind
for them to find
a rhyme
it happens all of the time

and in their teens
there in be-tweens
feelin' so lean & means
they'll write about love
and what their thinkin' of
be it an eagle or a dove
they'll give the words a shove
'cause there in their mind
their tryin' to find
a rhyme

and as young adults
they'll face the insults
just to get the results
in poetry
of what they see
and just Who they Be
there in their mind
where they may find
a rhyme

and when they have grown up
they may not have shown up
because some phrase was blown up
a poem was sown up
there in their mind
where they did find
a rhyme

you may think they're lazy
you may think they're hazy
you may think they're crazy
to try and rhyme orange & daisey
but there in their mind
they just might find
a rhyme

in the sky
or a pie
in hello or goodbye
they'll try
to find

in the motion
of the ocean
or some old hand lotion
they'll get the notion
there in their mind

in the grass so green
to them it will mean
things yet to be seen
there in the unseen
there in between
reality & poetry
they'll see

in green & yellow
they'll feel so mellow
in blue & red
they'll be led
in black & white
day & night
they'll write
there in their mind
they surely will find

in an old love or new
false or true
happy or blue
you'll know what they'll do
they'll try to find
there in their mind

when they're havin' sex
with a new love or an ex
they'll get that old hex
and they'll know what's nex - t
there in their mind
when they find

in every book
in some strange look
in a word that they took
in a song
in a gone wrong
that's where they'll belong
in some sad verse
in a blessing or a curse
for better or worse
there in their mind
they will find

they'll smoke
and they'll drink
they'll toke
and they'll sink
then they'll blink
and in their mind

when they die
and in their grave
they do lie

the words Life gave
there on their headstones
over their old bones
when they're all alones

"Here lies a poet
who tried to show it
if only in his mind

there at The Pearly Gate
that poet just can't wait
to try and mate
a word or two
that are new
