as i was out walking today
walking along there down by the bay
this song came along for me to say
i felt the wind come my way
the wind it wanted to play
but the wind it would not stay
soon the wind winded away

there in my face
i felt it's pace
i felt that wind race
a feeling i could not erase
then that wind
was gone without a trace

that wind
was in my face

"why?"
"how can this be?"
that wind there from the sky
did pass me by
that wind that came to me
"why did you flee?"

then a single wave i did see
a single wave there from the sea
a single wave that waved at me
but that single wave i could not save
that wasn't to be
soon that wave waved "goodbye"
and it too did flee
away from me
back to the sea

but "why?"
i cry
"how can this be?"

i tried to save,
you were here and gone then

so i looked to the sky
to question "why"
and a single cloud
like a shroud
was fleeting by
hard as i may
hard as i might
that single cloud i could not stay
that single cloud took flight
that single cloud went it's way

"but why?"
"how can this be?"
that single cloud i did see
now over the sea i see it flee
i see it fly
there thru the wind
where did it begin?
where will it end?

and so it is with me
all these things
i see
each was led
and each fled
upon their wings
each their own songs to sings

if all these things i see
there by the sea
then what of me?

"why?" i cry " do they pass me by?"
"how can this be?"

like the wave, the cloud & the wind
where do i begin?
and where will i end?
