i enjoy
gettin' up early
when the day is young
when the Sun has just begun
to bring a new day
my way

i sit on my front porch
with a glass of juice & a cigarette
and i forget
i just let
Yesterday go
because i know
a New Day
has come my way

i listen
to the sound
of the early morning
i watch the dew glisten
on the grass
and the squirrels run around
thru the trees & on the ground
i see the birds pass
there in the air
or sittin' in a tree
i even see my little Bumble Bee
these things please me

then i put on my walkin' shoes
and i go for a walk
yup, that's what i do's
i walk 4 miles
that is true
and all the whiles
i smiles
i talk to GOD & other peoples too's
people walkin' or on a bike
people joggin' or out for a hike
all of them i like
people in the yard
workin' hard
they be my Pard'

and after about an hour
when i'm thru
whata' i do?
i take a cold shower
so i'll feel like a fresh flower
and i get ready
and i get steady
for the rest of my day
come what may
i'm ready to play

a cup of coffee or 2
or 3
that i do, too
that just be me
another cigarette
and you can bet
my day has begun
my "Today Song"
is ready to be sung
i'm goin' strong
i'm right where i belong

yes, i enjoy
the new born day
as it comes my way
each day
i'm like a kid with a new toy
and that, i do enjoy
