this evening as day
was done
i sat outside
and felt the Sun
slowly fade away
as into the west it did glide
a cool Summer breeze
blew thru the trees
with such ease
June bugs did chatter
with their endless clatter
in the early evening dark
the old dog next door began to bark
soon the stray cat
who has adopted me
quickly jumped upon my knee
i wasn't sure about that
but as i rubbed his soft fur
i heard him gently purr
and all was right
this Summer night
Gordon Lightfoot softly playing his guitar
children playing not too far
the cough of an old car
a first wish upon a star
there in the Summer night
and all was right
a Summer night
the Moonlight
the star's light
and all was right
the smell of fresh cut grass
sensing time slowly pass
slowly into the night
and all was right
this Summer night
Oh Steve, you have left me completely BREATHLESS with delight in this wonderful work. You have painted a priceless picture of spiritual contentment we ALL seek and rarely find. But when we do it's so poetic. And you have captured it so realistically in this perfectly lovely piece.
This collection of poetry addresses the nature of time, reflections on the natural world, the difficulty of loss,
contemporary social issues and gratitude for life.
Love Tinka
My feelings and surroundings being exactly as this write,
I fell into it immediately.
