i was sittin' at my table
seein' if i was able
ta' read my Sunday paper
it's a real bottom scraper
all about the latest caper
or some old sheep raper

anyway,
here's what i got ta' say
a little word play
for a sleepy Sunday
from an old Poet
just tryin' ta' show it
tryin' not ta' blow it
if i did, i wouldn't know it

saw it there on the page
written by some young sage
musta' been old for their age
or just bored like a bird in a cage
a bit of trivia
for ya'
ta' read
ta' take, ta' heed

said this was The Truth,
Ruth,
called me from a phone booth
ta' lay it on the line
said that was fine
i didn't mind
if they blew my mind
fact, that might be kind

said there were four (4) words
that ya' never heards
Ryhmed
Timed
nor Sublimed
no way ta' sound the same
no word play game
that's when this challenge came

so as here i sit
decided i write this writ
see what i'd git
outta' all this bull shit
words herein Capitalized
you may have Realized
can't be Fantizied
into a Rhyme
just any old Time

"last MONTH
i went to the store
to buy some more
grapes
to feed my apes.
but the grapes
weren't PURPLE
so i bought an ORANGE.
didn't have no gold
so the man told
me he'd take SILVER.
asked would a greenback do?
man say "it's up to you".

See,
a Poet i be
it may not rhyme
all the time
but my ape
ate his ORANGE
even if it wasn't PURPLE.
in a MONTH or in a day
it might be moldy & gray
but it will never be SILVER.
