i write poetry
when i'm mad.
tonight
i write poetry
'cause i'm sad.

i don't have a reason.
maybe it's the season.
maybe it was a song.
maybe it's been too long
since i felt this way.
maybe it's just a sad poetry day.

maybe it's the full moon.
maybe it's a sad tune.
maybe it's the rain.
maybe it's the pain
in my heart.
maybe it's just the sad part
of me.

i write poetry
when i smile
and for a while
i can walk another mile.
i write poetry
when i cry
and i don't ask "why?"
it helps
the tears pass by.

but tonight
i am blue
'cause i still
love you
so what else could i do
but write sad poetry
that's true .
