i guess this is a poem
that's not poetic
in some ways
i feel it's quite pathetic
but these words are straight from my heart
never bothered ta' write 'em down
guess i couldn't find the sound
that made 'em be art
it's been a long day
what can i say
not sure what it is
makin' me feel this way
i've had a lot of loss
theses past few years
if ya' read me ya' know
had my share a' tears
& fears
made me feel old
beyond my years
i lost a wife i loved
'cause i kept drinkin'
lost my mom
watched her keep sinkin'
now my dad's
on his death bed
he's given up
he's a book that's ben read
and i sit here tonight
waitin' for the night
i try ta' write
whatever i might
'cause writin' seems
ta' help me
writin' brings moon beams
on a moonless night
writin' brings starlights
on a starless night
feelin's are real
we all have to deal
we all have to heal
we all have pain
this life has it's rain
sometimes it's loss
sometimes it's gain
tonight i just ramble
tonight i just gamble
that the words i write
will be all right
and if they are
or if they ain't
'taint up to me
i just do what i do
i just be me
and
tonight i am lonely
tonight i be blue
tonight i am feelin'
so what can i do
i can write
i can ramble
i can fight
i can gamble
that what i say
will help in some way
help me & help you
'cause if you're feelin' blue
know, dear friend,
i be blue too
I'll wrap my arms around you
I'll hide your pain
And when you smile
I'll explain

I usually decide not to write at times like the one you describe. That you do write at times like the one you describe says a lot about the indomitability of your spirit.
