standin' on The Edge
starin' over The Ledge
hopin' i don't fall
too far, too fast
listnin' to the call
of The Past
standin' on The Edge
starin' over The Ledge
these heights
always give me frights
afraid of the "If's" & the "Might's"
too many "Hind-Sights"
standin' on The Edge
starin' over The Ledge
tryin' not ta' hedge
my Bet
tryin' just to let
GOD give me what i get
standin' on The Edge
starin' over The Ledge
tryin' not to let memories from The Past
cast
a wedge
'tween Today & Tomorrow
tryin' to let go of Yesterday's Sorrow
but it's hard
when you're standin' on The Edge
starin' over The Ledge
lookin' down into The Unknown
waitin' to Be Shown
what Tommorow might bring
waitin' for The Song i should sing
waitin' for GOD to do HIS Thing
(just as a side note: this poem was not meant to be "downbeat" as someone mentioned to me. rather it was meant to describe the anxiety we so often allow our Selfs to get, when memories of past deeds and fears of tomorrow hinder us from appreciating Today's moments. for each and every day we stand on the edge & stare down over the edge. let go & let GOD was my intended message-steve)
