We have a friend who tells us daily how old we are, and we still face him, without complaints.

MIRRORS

by Cynthia B. Baello
August 15, 2008

I tell the life story
Of the lines in your face.
I have a good memory
Of the years in each gaze.

Unfolding old age
I will frankly disclose,
Details of your image
As you look up close.

Bags under eyes,
Hair that is greying,
Years have passed by -
A truth I'm declaring.

Honest reflections,
Boldly I reveal.
I undress your emotions
And expose what you feel.

I cannot deceive
As I look at your eyes,
I return what you give
Because I never lie.

"As water reflects a face, so a man's heart reflects the man."

Proverbs 27:19

I have a poem that is similar to this. It is entitled "Mirrors Never Lie"...
Mirrors can show the truth...whether or not it is the image we see there.

You are so true.
A mirror never lies,
But can it see beyond the flesh ?
Dose it see the real you ?

Thank you for your beautiful words, they made me think !

Thank you for sharing your words with us Cynthia, here's what my mirror says:
Good morning dear lady,
For your age you look fine.
Those beautiful laugh lines,
Are from smiles in time.
The grey marks your accomplishments,
So many in your life,
Your beautiful kids & grandbabies,
A good mom and wife.
The sleepless nights shows,
With circle around your eyes,
For those you cared for & loved truly,
And this mirror don't lie.

We all have to age, most of us do it beautifully and gracefully but we can't stop age. Thank you for sharing a great write.

Newfie Hugs, Rose

Beautifully written. And how true. Oh, we may complain, but only to ourselves. This was very thought provoking.
