I’m so tired,
I want to rest my head and hope that
Once these salted lids shut for the eve,
My soul will be emancipated, be free to release and breathe,
My mind will take a vacation from knowing way much more than it should,
My heart will remember the season and reach out to do nothing but good…
If somewhere in the middle of forcing out rest I fall to slumber, I wish not
To awaken until the exotic middle of a new summer, I hope there are coconut trees,
Banana bunches and a cool cool sip of tangerine crème seltzer soda…
I’m so tired,
Of running from my defective family in nightmarish dreams,
Wanting to rewrite the chapters of their lives, so we all don’t look like fools
Or thieves,
Praying for the nations inside of me to produce something greater than
Waxy, wavy dark green leaves,
If I have to wave anything, I hope the power is in my hand to wave eternal healing.
I'm so tired.........
