within a pod
with just my God
all alone
i am a stalk
both burnt and bent
scarred, spurned, and spent
dying, done
i am the sea
stretched out beyond
we share a bond
in Him, one
i am the chalk
scraped from above
and all for love
turned to stone

just one who’s done
cringe-balk-singe-walk
a stone alone
pea-stalk-sea-chalk

people will talk
but they can’t see
my daily walk
who still holds me
