Yesterday, carried on a wild wind, my still, small voice whispered prayers for you. Tonight, outside my window, the rain becomes insistent. I hurry now to write these wishes down.
My wrist begins to ache from frantic movement of pen racing across page. I pause to consider my wishes. Only then do I realize the senselessness of my act.
Tears wet words that flow effortlessly from aching heart to parchment, chilled now by night air. Knowing you will never read heartfelt wishes, that you care not to see or speak to me,
I hold half-filled paper in my hand, stare until I see things differently. Taking pen, I begin process in reverse, cross off wishes one by one save a single item.
I wish for your surrender of all that blocks the blessings God would give you. Momentarily, I lament that this wish says nothing about my need, surrender then again.
My own release of wishes and tears leaves me an empty vessel, ready and waiting as God has asked of me. In my waiting, angels descend and lift high my hope for you.
The Lord himself kneels down beside me, gathers up sorrow, heart’s true desire and carries them heavenward with speed, interceding on my behalf. Prayers, wishes carried away
Even as soul grieves separation, longs for relief, death’s transformation, an end to silence unbearable. The waiting, the wishes, the wanting some escape persists
As does my love for you. Tonight, there in this ceaseless rain, I pray you see reflections of that love. Tomorrow, feel wild wind, surrender self unto blessings that yet await.
