Poem Artwork

     I must admit at least,
I’ve no idea what to make of you.

You are unlike
any I’ve encountered before. You are wise
with a potent energy held gently
in hands that know when to hold on, to let go.

Across the miles
my soul flies to you with such magnetic force,
Momentarily without any words, I’m
beyond caught up, suspended in time with you.

I am somewhat
ordinary; yet, you recognized me, too.
I wonder – have you imagined softer side
to sharp-penned poet whose work you read, review?

     You must admit at least,
you’ve no idea what to make of me.

You hit the spot with this poem. The best poets in history are still a mystery to be uncovered. Interpretetion is like our perspective on color: we all see it differently. When a poet keeps his face out of the poem, the work takes on a universal appeal; people can relate to the it according to their own experience and interpret accordingly, and that is good writing.

Great job, Dawn!

Mmmm - air of mystery and intrigue... a tantalising fascination and an awakening to a special mutuality or appreciation that is, maybe, not yet directly expressed. Agree with Kenny below, this is beautifully oblique - but teasingly upfront at the same time. Clever and very well-crafted, Dawn! TY Kate xx

seeing the extradordinary in the ordinary is a gift, seeing into the heart of the matter to the real, a blessing. I have an idea this is a nice oblique poem.
