In the drizzle of the day I did not expect such a storm to surprise the senses, much less to dance and sing in rain. In the fury of the fire, I did not expect such a calm to overcome my fear, much less that I would live, survive. In the clearing, wide and flat, I did not expect such a pit to prevent my progress, much less to find new purpose there.
