Discombobulated
I fling up my arms,
  dismayed.

“What is it you expect
of me,” I demand,
  speaking

    to nobody
    in particular.

The car is empty, save
me and God. We’re
  having

one of those infamous
one-on-one chats, spats,
  temper

    tantrum, demand-
    some-answers rant on.

I’m half-listening to
an interview; man
  of faith

talks calling, vocation –
never mind career.
  He says

     there’s a reason
     why we’re here. Have faith.

I believe faith matters,
but, quite frankly, I’m
  mad as

hell today. I can’t see
any way out or
  way through.

     All I see is
     the devil and you.

Squeezed out of every damn
opportunity to
  express

talents, gifts…No doors have
opened. The windows
  are all

     shut, and stale air,
     staid, suffocating.

The promise – your promise –
always hanging there
  beyond

my reach. What is it you
would teach me, God? What
  is it

     you would say? Did
     I get it wrong, then,

nature of your calling?
Or is it true what
  some say;

you’ve chosen me to be
reluctant prophet?
  Hands tied,

     I do as told
     no matter what’s lost.

Nobody’s listening,
and nobody cares.
  Their stares

and jeers aren’t very fun,
but you’re the One who
speaks not,

    whose still small voice
     remains silent, still.

Superb expression of frustration overtaking patience
when answers never seem to be forthcoming. We all
struggle with this one Dawn. You are able to voice it
better than most of us;-)Remaining still is one of the
hardest things to do, made even harder when there are
no results. ...Love,Eileen

I can definitely say you are not alone on this one. I have felt the same way. I talk to the "big guy" like I talk to anyone. I definitely wonder sometimes if I am on target of my purpose. Someone once said, you are exactly where you are suppose to be. You just need to know the lesson of it. Something, for me, that is easier said than done. But I'm working on that. This is a grand write full of emotions.

A most interesting take on a universal subject. Thank you, Dawn. Love and peace. Regis

been there often
it is part of faith
you move foward
[at least we hope
that it is foward]
listening for that
still small voice --
knowing that walking
by faith means that
you probably will not
hear it it s frustrating...

and then, just when you
want to chuck the whole
faith/god/spiritually lark
you hear some thing not
clearly, not w/o ambiguity
and on you go..

this is a fine write that expresses
very well a common feeling

Dawn, this is remarkable in that it is such a positive step..though the pilgrim seems to have lost their way, in truth, they are closer to being on the right and true path that leads to all understanding...well done Dawn.

very important rant...let it out and find a peace, find a place
and sit still...often times we are moving too fast to hear, thinking to hard to listen....answer will come
take care

Instruggle with this, too. Faith is such a fragile thing, sometimes, when we can't see the light at the end. Well-crafted and thoughtful.

Discombobulated definitely sums it all up doesn't it? I frequently feel that way when it comes to religion (but I have great friends from many different beliefs that will always explain things to me).

This is such a good write of frustration with God. The form you use makes it even more emotional. Good work. Hope it helped to get it all out.

This is rather unique and an interesting read. I feel I have gotten that way myself.
