this one's a little disjointed. it's probably about three poems, not one. hope it makes a little sense here and there....
1. No longer breaking, broken. No longer speaking, having spoken words to burn heaven down, leave us all shivering, dying in the cold alone.
I wail to winter’s wind, that cruel and unforgiving gale, relentless in its fury, caring not that it has snapped clean this barren, brittle limb.
Inside my head, I babble. Sounds of gurgling water rise. It will be a difficult birth, and I do not know if I am to survive this spring.
For I am winter’s child, lost among the summer people of this burning festival. Alone I came. As you asked, alone I have left you there.
I make no request of you. I relinquish all demands. No questions remain in need of answers now. Only love refuses to take its leave.
2. Feathered still and working out the tar, steeped in solitude, I pray for fierce resurgence of my good, unseen by you in your resplendent glory.
To you it must sound silly, this bird bath soliloquy, and perhaps it is foolish to attempt to follow soul song to river of spring’s joy.
I thrash through the days, fighting for my life, and know you know nothing of my journey long, lone. I splash because I can and hope to find life and be
found deserving of second chance. Mute though I be, beyond understanding, I’m alive until I die and will not let go of the only thing
that ever blessed me, broke me, made me to be a wobbly voice of more than mere reason. Oh, transcendent flight toward home, sweet freedom that awaits me.

these two poems are totally captivating ... your tone and voicing flows effortlessly upon my thoughts ... an interesting blend of agonized emotions and the solace of spiritual renewal ...
Dawn, what depth of anguish in your poem of many colors!
Also, a note of hope in the finale, which I'm thankful to read;-)
Your poetry is always profound, honest, and captivating,! Be well!
It makes far more than a "little sense", Dawn, and these well-constructed stanzas are loaded and "pregnant" with meaning... I love the linking themes of the fragility and the fight for survival as depicted in the "baby bird" image: it's desire for flight and for song. I guess the third strand, if you separate it all out, is the longing for connection and understanding; for nurture and for growth. Your writes are always so strong and very visual, very potent and emotionally honest. Overcoming is a permanent benchmark and is borne out in the tenor and voice of your feminine and hyper-tensile poetry. This is yet another example of your emotion-packed verses and a demonstration that yours is a rich poetic seam that will never readily be exhausted. Very well done... and as for your mind-blowing comments on my "Queen" poem - what can I say?! I am totally awed and humbled by your words and can't thank you enough for such a glowing tribute. I am totally floored, but very, very grateful. Bless you and please continue to grace us likewise with your unique and powerful voice. Love and prayers, Kate xx
Contraband Marriage, traveling along the hemline of loving after incarceration, is a love story written in lyric and free form, set in reality with a different ever after.
Also, a note of hope in the finale, which I'm thankful to read;-)

Sometimes when we think that
our thoughts don't make any sense
yet our voices do all the talking;
and by the time we've finished talking,
we then realized we have spoken our speech
and that it actually made some sense.
