for you. because I really do feel the darkness closing in. you were the greatest light that found its way to me. love for a hundred thousand years plus one, Dawn

Beloved,
gentle man whose
fierce determination to do
what you thought was right
turned out wrong for me,

            The terror inside
has chased me down corridors
of a thousand doors chained and bolted
shut, and off the edge of Somewhere
into perpetually diminishing returns.

I fear there is no coming back.

Friend of mine,
best and dearest,
deepest friend I ever knew who
stamped me not a friend
at all, loved by me,

           My heart fails at last.
Its frenzied cry of helpless
desperation goes unanswered
by the friends I’ve failed
to make here on earth.

Song of life fades in spring’s faint light.

Brother, kind,
one true spirit
which burns more brightly when small flame
of faithfulness is
kindled from beyond,

            My light grows dim and
withdraws itself into that
greater distant flame, but there are
no goodbyes to say;
only love remains.

Carry on. Christ’s deep peace to you.

Dawn,

How grateful I am that these are not your last words. You write what you feel, and do it convincingly. Power in each profoundly penned emotion.

Stay in touch, dear Poet, and KEEP WRITING!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. *tears*

NOTE... hey everybody. its me. just FYI, the irony is as I wrote this and now, I feel no deathwish, no desire to embrace dark. the irony is I am doing every conceivable thing I can to reaching for light, which ultimately means resting in the arms of God. the taste of death has been on my tongue and for once I'm not actually running toward it wildly. Breathing is precisely what's become difficult for me and, for once, not just metaphorically.

Dawn,
who never particularly thought she lived up to the beauty of her name but won't give up the journey. ever. love to you all...

Sweet Jesus, I pray that this is not what it sounds, Dawn. Your recent poetry has been flawless, matchless and ever-deepening and flowing, like massive arterial veins... fuelled, doubtless, by the deep waters you are sailing. Your powers of articulation are like great sails that have caught the mighty ocean breezes and you are going full tilt... I can almost feel the listing, heaving and keeling. But, Dawn, as your name suggests (and I am a great believer that our names are not haphazard, but carry a lot about who we are like some little micro-chip!), I pray to God that it is towards the light and not the dark. We all make our own personal happiness to be built and constructed on others - even, perhaps, just one special person. But the truth is that we live and die as separate spiritual entities, and life and death are constantly battling within each one of us on a daily basis. Christ is the giver of life and the overcomer of all that pertains to death in the here and now, for as long as it is His will that we remain here. Knowing of His great love for us uniquely and individually assures us that this is truth. He promises that "a bruised reed I will not break and a dimly burning flame I will by no means quench": His will for us is life in abundance, but many times the path to discovering this takes us not over the waves but under them... But hang on in there, the waters will at some point part, and you will be able to walk through on dry land into the fertile pastures of the Promised Land. Keep overcoming, Dawn, because your personal struggle and writing have great impact and resonance with many and we love and need you here. And the darkest hour is just before the dawn... I know that God can get you through this. Just keep breathing... Love and prayers, Kate xx

Dawn, this fine write is chilling, for this darkness that you so describe is the tangible reality to those who can truly see. Though the shadows of the day lengthen as the light begins to grow dim in our minds eye...it in our unseen reality that is shining brighter than it ever has, for it is through this darkness, that the light shines the brightest, for light dispels the darkness and faith overcomes the doubt that is so triggered by the tangibility of our surroundings...peace and be still.

Allen
