Your eyes did not fail you,
for what else could you see when you looked
through the lens of a skewed reality and filtered
what you thought you saw
through what you thought you knew,
then filed and categorized your experience
under the label of “right again”?
Have you considered
that the complexity of “the truth”
might require something more than sound and sight,
amount to something other than wrong or right?

Your ears did not fail you,
for what else could you hear when you listened
only for what you expected to hear and missed
all else because you are
so accustomed to gathering evidence
to support your mind’s prejudicial bent?
The gavel echoes and you rush to point
the finger, afraid some greater judge
will find fault and sentence you to authenticity –
something, I know, you like to celebrate in yourself,
something, you know, you fear is missing in you.
Beyond the courtroom melee
that plays in your head like background music
is the resonance of peace;
all is at rest. Listen
again
again
again.

Trust your senses, as you are wont to do,
but examine your heart – your true heart, not
the one you cause to appear at opportune times
so the world will think you worthy.
Search it out. Ask it what it knows.
Its whispered reply will rise through you
like a wave of grace and there will be
upheaval, more questions than answers,
more you do not understand than you do.
More will surely be required of you
for your bold embrace of deeper truth.
But, friend, love, beautiful soul,
God himself will rejoice when you let go
of the belief that you can rule your world
with a law you call love,
whose murderous implementation
reveals its gross distortion.

All things will look different then,
when you examine them through the eyes of soul,
when you really listen, invite comment and consider
your course, leaving God to separate
the wheat from the chaff.
And, though you may be afraid
walking through a shadowed world,
you will be carried by a gentle wind,
lifted beyond the burden of control,
able to see clearly
and to know
all is well
all is well
all is well.

 Reviews of "Distortion"

This is another fantastic write, Dawn, and touches on so many chords of both hurt and resurgence - in both the conscious and subliminal depths of our modus operandi. I am feeling a bit churned myself at the moment, and so "live" in my senses that this is almost too deep for me to be able to fully take on board at the moment - because the heat which comes off it is just too intense for me now. That just goes to demonstrate that these words of yours, as always, are living and active and potent... doing a darn fine job, in other words! Will have to return to this when I can be a bit more objective and am more able to "handle appropriately". Bless you and thank you... All is indeed well. Kate xx

Dawn,

Bang!

My motto: The reality/truth is FAR more "trippier"
than the illusion!
Excellent write!

Dawn,

Thought provoking, wise write that admonishes gently and teaches greatly; the ending is particularly meaningful and soothing; thank you!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla. :)
