Words
spill like rain from the heart and mind
you’ve always called
too full.

Absorbed
in the starry desert stare of the boy...
our boy, who will become
a man,

Those words,
like hollowed ping-pong balls, ricochet
off your silver-shielded soul and leave
no dent.

In the silence
that boomerangs back at me with rapidity,
I am rendered eternally
speechless.
