Brother mine, I have heard you. I am in receipt of your urgent call, and my heart rings with the truth it embodies and longs to bridge this gap.
Brother mine, I am frightened by the dangerous journey required if I am to come, and yet your love inspires me to answer despite the din of these divisive days.
Brother mine, my heart breaks with yours, but I live in a world of privilege and am slow to surrender comforts that only distance me from depth of your pain.
Brother mine, you ask if I am living inside death, if death has consumed me whole. No! This thing that splits us is greater than death, race, religion or creed. Sadly, it's apathy.
Brother mine, you are reaching me. I do not know where your words might lead me, but I believe that God would have me live them long through the years and across many miles.
Brother mine, may I find your courage planted deep within my soul and see with open eyes what small step I might take to bring us back to hope, for we are one.
We are one people in one time with one opportunity.
[Dawn's note: my challenge to us all in this day: give the gift of your abundant resources, your time, your presence, your poem, your prayer, that we all might bring unity to the human family.]

Dawn, the above lines sum it up for me. You have told it like it really is. This is something that we all as a people must strive to overcome. Excellent write.
Blimey, I am obviously missing something significant here... must beetle on over to Abdi-Noor's page and check this out. Whatever, again, another write that draws one straight into the nub of the matter of existance in our day and age: selfish comfort versus brotherly compassion; or, possibly more starkly, ignorance versus proactivity for change. You are the most flexible of poets, Dawn, and I am truly in admiration as to how you change your style and forms in so many ways with each and every write. Your work is always a visual feast for the eyes, apart from anything else that might cross the cerebral cortex. You are an accomplished artist. TY Kate xx
