You make no comment because you worry you will be misread, misinterpreted, misunderstood. Afraid of fault lines and fragile feelings, you tell yourself it is safer to say nothing at all.
The silence is deafening. A ringing in my ears makes clear an echo of inner emptiness. Yet, you are present in your absence, and I hold you like sacred space in the long letting go.
You left without goodbye; still, you hover near, thinking me unaware of your proximity and care. You do not want me to know, afraid that I might squawk too loudly for more of you.
I make no comment. I no longer worry you will never speak but pray for you to trust as, even now, I find faith in your heart. In your unspoken vow of fidelity I hear the mighty roar of love.

ooh amazing! How I too have felt this way... this was great
Some people don't know how to say goodbye or they are afraid if they do, they will burn their bridge to us. Even though they suspect that we are not what they truly want, until they find out what it is that they really do want, they want to make sure that we are still waiting in the wings for them. Love doesn't always mean that we are right for each other or at least not in the context that we want it to. Sometimes we are better off just being companions than we are being lovers simply because it is impossible for us to ever stop loving them and to be severed from them would be a crushing blow. Excellent write, Dawn!
Take care,
Sherry
