How Is It Possible?

How is it possible
for two people to fall
together, willingly, a million years
through timeless skies eternal blue,
tumbling and forever beginning again
in a world without end?

And how is it possible
that the one soul blossoms
enough to remember the other and
grows, rooted in tenacious hope,
in the direction of light
they have shared?

And how is it possible
that the second soul,
which shares the same source, retreats
to shadow and claims no knowledge
of the one flame burning
in their hearts?

How is it possible
that the one surrenders all
for a chance to live to the fullest, while
the other shrinks, unable to respond
to love larger than the laws
of Earth and gravity?

How is it possible
that the one, acknowledging
the beauty of a perfect plan, gives
the whole self only to have it discarded,
as the one who rejects love’s gift
is lauded, loved eternally?

Powerful. It sometimes seems that love does not comply with the ordinary rules but governed by laws other than those we know of. Wonderful poem. thanks fof sharing.

It is impossible to feel sad reading this because it is so
b e a u t i f u l l y d o n e. The repetition works
to great advantage, and I love the nuances of rhythm and
sound: possible. . .blossom. . .knowledge. . .acknowledging.
Other examples I could cite, but as I am 'getting' a rep for
going on (and on)(and on), I will hush, except to say

Dawn,

This is absolutely powerful. You don't hold back with the confusion, the anger, the emotion--BRAVA! Excellent write.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Well, Dawn, this is your usual superb and well-composed and crafted work... but the substance and message of it has me almost weeping with the same confusion by way at an attempt at a response. I could blame my post-operative trauma, of course, but, actually, it's because, quite frankly, this rattles bars doesn't it... ones we would all rather have left intact, perhaps. I love and admire your upfront honesty and courage in the questions you pose and the subjects you tackle head-on, but with grace and tact and always with fine imagery and metaphors. I'm left bouncing this around my feeble brain like a Tigger with a mouthful of thistles... but delightfully so! Others have offered much wisdom... all I can think is, if this truly IS love, than the one soul is free of all sense of constraint to offer themselves fully in commitment... the other is bound by actual or perceived chains of constraint which limit the power of the course of true love in their life. Sad, but true for oh so many. Bless you, Dawn; this is stunning. TY Kate xx

a very powerful query, Dawn ... sometimes the source of love remains only a one-sided affair ... when one's heart speaks out only the beat of its own echo will be heard ... sometimes love needs to be nurtured but when is cannot be, one must ask, is it truly love? ...

True love never ends, but fear of loving is a conditioned response. Some people need to barricade their heart for fear of being hurt. Who knows, perhaps in a former life we hurt them, perhaps it was when we died and left them alone with a broken heart to try to fend for themselves. We really can never promise that we won't leave them again, either, and they know this. Also, not being able to show love does not mean that they don't love us with all that they have, merely that they are unable to openly admit to their feelings. Another possibility is that they are so close to the one who is our soul mate that we are mistaken; they don't feel for us what we think they should because they are not who we believe them to be, their vibration is simply a near match for our partner. Having made that mistake myself once, it was only in the very long run that I realized that no matter how much I loved this man, he would never love me in the same way and also that a soul that I would align all my lifetimes to would not be the one that I eventually found his to be. But as I said, I only came to realize this in the VERY long run.

Take care,

Sherry
