My soul has been fearless in falling, if lacking in logic, short a stick of foresight,
I have waded willingly into dangerous surf, daring to test the rising tide.
But like a child, in waist deep and still trying to take little jumps and twist as each wave breaks, my voice is lost, swallowed whole by rage of the ocean’s roar. I am alone, afraid of sharks.
Sometimes, I am sucked under, into frothy fray or caught up in a fierce riptide that makes me question the goodness of this life. Then a single ray pierces the surface above, marks
my heart, rouses my spirit sinking, provokes grand resurgence of jubilant courage.
Undaunted and alive, I dive deep, immersed in waters of hope and infinite love.
Dawn you skillfully described life and the problems ususally associated with it. When love is intact at both sides the waves of life push you up but when only one side of the romantic machine is working you are pulled down to the botom of the ocean with great fear of being hunted down by sharks of time. Excellent poem
Love the amibivalence in this write, Dawn - and the form, as ever, is intriguing and so fitting, like those fiercly lapping tongues! Conjured many memories of me being a nervous child around the water's edge - the panic of being swept off my feet and gasping for breath and light is a very real presence here. Wonderful resurgent finale, to say the least, and very liberating and expansive; makes me think of birthing, too! LOL Kate xx

What a unique form you've presented to us here! I love the message.
Stunning write Dawn! I think we are all afraid of the sharks, and being pulled under by the tide of this thing called life.
I'll have to save this one..it is magic to the eye and gives hope for the rest!
That structure is both contributing to the thematic effects and competing with it. I liked the central metaphor in this, and the tension (the struggle) those indents seem to signify. A very good poem.
Dear Dawn!! This is a wonderful description of how we bravely live our lives, sometimes pulled under, until 'a single ray pierces the surface above... provokes grand resurgence of jubilant courage...' gifting us with an inner power 'unduanted and alive' that wouldn't have been known without 'dangerous surf'!!
What a blessing it is to swim in the 'waters of hope and infinite love.'
Thank you for this beautiful life-giving piece!
