Burrowed beneath blackened eye, in small sparrow space, nested fear squawks within me, beats fierce its wings, seeks the promised transformation, reformation, some shift, release.
Inside the mouth agape, which swallows whole my light, arises timid tweet-tweet of life emergent. Flying free in the face of dark night’s circumstance: newborn chance.
Faint – this, my misted morning; softer still, shaken chord that resonates trill of distant love song. Rich tones ring out hopefulness, ascend to greater heights of joy.
This is a well-sustained and strongly imaged metaphor, Dawn, that epitomises struggle and surrender, fight and flight so well. As others have said, it is striking that you ALWAYS strike the sounding note of hope in conclusion, which adds depth and richness to your work and which makes for some consummate poems.
