White Noise

The roar of an endless but empty ocean,
invisible as air, swallows the small voice,
all its desperate shouting sucked into the void

that negates everything,
retracts hope, stifles faith,
engulfs life

as if now
nothing matters, as if
matter’s non-existent.

All becomes bent on bleeding, blending into
monochromatic chaos. Random impulse
bounces, battles my every breath like white noise.
