no creativity. just a lot of blahblah poor me. working in a warehouse, 3rd time in 3 years. grateful to have the work, just sad remembering what was lost. so this pity poem's the best I can do just now. click my last post for something slightly more inspiring.... Dawn

Then I worked alongside
you. I used my mind. I was
following heart of my heart,
living in spirit and truth.

Now I climb high on ladders
and scramble back down again,
always afraid of falling, of never
really going anywhere.

But I go all day, back and forth,
picking products off row after row
after row of warehouse shelves,
then dragging heavy bags

Across cold concrete, I am
further chilled by sudden memory
of pivotal December past.
Spinning in pain, I fast forward

But pause and picture you again,
sitting straight in your padded chair
somewhere, and I know you
wouldn’t even care

Even if you knew all you
never knew, all I know you still
don’t know. Still sharpening
pencils, making your point,

you’ll always erase whatever
just doesn’t suit you. Nothing
reminds you of me, but even
these blasted walkie-talkies

Reek of your remembrance
for me. And this donut shop coffee
leaves a bitter taste in my mouth,
and I want no more

Of songs about angels. Weary
of lifting suitcase boxes and packing
other people’s gifts, it seems I’m stuck,
slogging through my now and then.

... and writing awesome and evocative, hard-hitting poetry, Dawn. Nothing is ever wasted. It's tough when life seems to be going backwards, repeating what's best forgotten, but in reality, perhaps all the "negative" energy is flowing outwards from these eddys, so that you might well find yourself with jet-propelled energy and momentum forwards once the vortex is broken. Just don't give up... every second brings you closer to that time... But you paint the debillitating effect of negative thoughts so very clearly here, Dawn. I feel quite exhausted myself now! In that case, very well done as always. K xx

I really empahise. Went through much the same, still do, as I dream of sharing Christmas with my son once more.
Yet writing it out on here is most cathartic indeed.
Onwards for ever onwards the clock only goes in one direction....

Revealing and full of depth... a longing and a forgetting all at once. Nicely done.

what a wonderful, sad, but realistic poem...life may not always be wonderful but it could still be better than before. i'm learning every day to thank God for what i have...i was feeling sorry for myself this morning because my job is so boring and i looked over at the housekeeper emptying the trash and thought...well better boring i guess, than hard

Always a pleasure to read you, Dawn. This is so captivating, so absorbing and so heart-rendering a poem. Hope things will be better for you in near future.

Dawn, it is sad to remember what was lost (boy do I know), but it is good to know that things can only get better (and they do). As for no creativity, Phoo! & Tish! You Slog through really well

Say Something Terrorible v3 by RickthePoetWarrior

My mom says ‘If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything’. Sorry mom but under the guise of poetic license I penned these beauties.
