Seasonal Affect

Well, it started out happy and joyful... I’ll pull out of it. Just my usual late winter-early spring funk peeking through.. Dawn

Pale pink and white, southern dogwoods blossom.
Chimes intone the season’s jubilant news.
Cardinals chirp their chipper conversation.

Sways woman willow, weeping, dressed in green.

Force of life breaks through a brittle surface.
All that has been carried is given whole
unto a world with empty, waiting arms,
her hope restored by spring’s re-creation.

I am not as moved as she and fold back
in upon my wilted heart, finding all
is dead or dying inside and the arms
of my mind too tired to stretch toward spring.

Eyelids flutter, close, mimic butterfly.
The roar of emptiness matches this wind,
but I hear no deep tones of grace within.

Darkness, dissonance, death – these are my friends.

Fantastic poem. We seldom prefer to be alone in a dark place to see the light shining within.

The changing seasons do have a profound effect on our mind, body & spirit and flowing in & out is not always easy. Hope you will soon feel the joy of spring.

It will come, hear the quiet whisper? The earth bestows her grace on all her creation. But we, like bears wakening from hibernation, take awhile to shake off the ghost of winter. Fine write, Dawn!

I agree with ET... there are time when there is comfort in darkness... And I've learned that it's in the darkness we see the light....Thank you for sharing these superb words....

the images emotionally bleed from within the pulse of a darkened vision ... your thoughts desire a transfusion of seasonal changing ... powerful poem, Dawn ...

Sometimes Dawn, we just have to go with the flow and though light is preferrable, there is also comfort in darkness...for a time...It was He who gave us both! Superb poem!

Oh, my, Dawn,

This is breathtaking! Many are affected by the Long Dark...hope the sun shines soon in your corner of the world. Powerfully expressed, emotional write, very well penned.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
