my brain seems to be on strike. here's something written from an image in an old poem. no, I don't know what it means, Dawn

Water on the brain
swells my thoughts
into rolling waves that crash
against the shore of sleep, and I float
belly up, through dreams populated by
cannibalistic islanders with Zombie eyes
and designer flip flops.

Now I am Jonah,
jolted, jostling about inside
this whale of a life that spat
me out precisely when I had collected
the courage to sail, heeding distant call,
trusting resonant tones of oceanic grace
and a sailor’s instinct.

After the flood,
I lift my eyes to find my faith
and an iridescent rainbow stretched
farther than imagination. God’s olive branch
comes not in the storm’s absence, but is revealed
in the fluttering wings of a fragile faith
buoyed by life’s sea.

Those times of grace are pure joy tho it seems they don't last. I think they are a window into what we can be. But we must be like birds bouyed on the waves-riding the highs and lows. Love the line, "God's olive branch comes not in the storm's absence, but is revealed in the fluttering wings of a fragile faith buoyed by life's sea". Beautiful!

Dawn,

Older poem or not, it is a stunning composition; excellent, thought provoking verse. I pray your creative side gets refreshed very soon.

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.

Beside Still Waters by Jill Eisnaugle

Each person is but a grain of sand resting beside the sea. This thought sets the tone for Jill Eisnaugle’s latest poetry collection, Beside Still Waters.
