Crossing Thirteen

you sit before me
big feet dangling, gangly legs hanging off
the worn sofa you used to somersault across...

you break inside as
I watch the glassy green seas in your eyes
part before me, inviting me to help you cross...

I break inside as
I navigate new territory, now
knowing we have mountains to climb, rivers to cross...

I sit before you
small hopes growing, swells of sadness showing,
certain this divide is one we shall swim across...

overcoming differeneces is not so easy ... crossing them requires a lot of paddling ... but with hope and dertemination we can overcome the obstacles along the way ... good luck!
