Bolt of lightning strikes her sleeping form; she wakes, keels, seizing on reality. Crash of thunder jolts her from fair dream of how it might have been, never will be. Hope: severed. Faith: fissured, frayed and singed. She hangs limp, lifeless, lit by crackling sky. She's a shadow of her former self, wrecked and ravaged by electrical storm. Fury rages in his yellow eyes, emanating from dark and clouded heart, Dispersing atomic energy, leveling love vaporized by night.

Phewwwwwwwwwwwwww.... sharp intake of breath here.... this sizzles and crackles the sinews of the mind nicely, Dawn. Love your form and chosen diction for this, which makes it just so effective. A touch of the Mary Shelleys, I think! I love your Dark Romanticism... you need to be at Byron's mansion on Lake Garda (was it??!) when day turned to night for a couple of weeks... and, for the life of me, I can't now remember why... but certainly, swapping these kinds of poems over the Bardolino would have been the WTG!! Love all the successive "sss" sounds. LOL Kate xx
