As a child I dreamed I could teach the world to sing in harmony, hold hands and make friends, bring life and love to the dark wood where I found myself falling, fizzless and flat.
How’s that for failing to represent the ideals of the brand quite royally?
My tv used to tell me to have a smile with my coke, catch the wave of goodness. I tried not to choke as I guzzled carbonated salve which contented but never could cure me.
Was it fear or false advertising that led me to imbibe so loyally?
Now enjoying in moderation coca-cola zing, I believe in the taste of yes, but have given reprieve to grandeur and self-annihilation, at home with myself and bottled drink of crazy gods.
coke is poisen to the body (sugar, caffine, carbination)...it is scary when we reflect how advertising can fool us into believing in an unhealthly lifestyle and could explain the obesity of America...sorry...i'm venting..your piece is excellent in stirring up reasons to think
we were made to believe drinking coke would out zest into out lives and be the "real" thing ... coke profited and we were left wondering about our true effervescence, feeling quite bloated and sometimes flat ...
Unique and very well-constructed, Dawn, with your thoughts sustained and admirably brought home. This kinda fizzes on the tongue as we bounce your points around, trying to test for every bud of tang and taste. And yep... It's The Real Thing!! :)) Prefer the hard-hat image of Pepsi, meself... The New Seekers are a bit on the "clean" side... mind you, their pearly whites must be sufferin a bit if they've been downing crates of that stuff... I like this so much for being "different"... There is deeper meaning here than simply "Coke," Dawn. My brother has been a technician for Coca-Cola for over forty years. I know a lot about the company. Enough said. Thank you for sharing this. Love and peace to you,
