We have arrived
at the crest of a hill we have longed to see.

Perfectly poised
for the ride of our lives, we anticipate sharing
the joy of the journey, having finally understood
that time and distance, the weight of sadness
and separation, cannot claim
our soul commitment
to one another.

It is now. We are here,
gaining momentum, lifting our arms to rejoice
in a moment's exhilaration, knowing that
through the twists and turns we will remain
in spirit side by side, slightly amused
by place where time stands still
and flies back 'round again.

This moment repeats,
anticipation replicated even after we thought
we'd had the last thrill, that life had nothing
left to give us. While we may wonder
whether anyone's left to believe us,
neither of us can wait
to tell everyone --

We have arrived
but have only just begun to celebrate life's ride.

ADORE this, Dawn!! Reminds me of the hysterical carousel ride I enjoyed with Andy and Paul in Covent Garden last summer... bet no-one would believe THAT, either!! :)) And, yes, very amusing!

You've captured that "giddy" feel so well with these lines. Makes me feel whoopsadaisy just to think about it! Love the concepts and expressions in this poem. Unique and very concrete. TY Kate xx

Dawn,

The anticipation, the journey over life's hills and valleys is so much more enjoyable when you have someone right beside you for the ride. A joyous celebration, your words, thank you!

(((HUGS))) and love, Karla.
