Couldn't write a song
Didn't know the tune, caught up
in ten thousand years
of shining sun, stormy sea,
Lonely lullabies
and all the long wordless cries
aching to break free
from invisibility.
Weary of wishing
you would see how you bore through,
blinded, buried me
in this cage without a key,
Come sit in silence,
gaze awhile until the light
breaks in and I can
breathe the memory of me.
Feathers flying fast;
I'm not going anywhere,
not here, not there, just
where I'm still supposed to be.
Lost or found I am
bound, trying to remember
the way back to dream of sky,
nested in your tree.
