For the child who is a man,
but bound as were you,
you have walked again
the path of presumed sacrifice,
all the while waving your arms wildly
in the other direction as if to paint
the picture of perfection, thinking
I don't see straight through those
sweeping colors of deceit.
Your smile turned upside down,
not to mention your life turned
inside out, all the while you out
and about, on the town, turning
cartwheels building the world,
not even remembering the world
we came to change together,
thinking your current diversion
offers you the ideal excursion.
Nevertheless, here I will stand
and hold this center, fumbling
all the while, looking like the fool,
standing naked in love while all these
arrows fly. They cannot harm me,
and I will be here, faithful, ever
waiting to greet you, working
faithfully as I can toward all
the dreams that never die.
